LEP Hosts New York’s Commissioner of Agriculture and State Senator
On Friday July 25th, we were delighted to welcome New York State Commissioner of Agriculture Richard Ball and State Senator Cecilia Tzaczyk at our office in Kingston. Commissioner Ball and Senator Tzaczyk met with LEP Director Bob Dandrew and staff for a briefing on LEP’s work in the Hudson Valley before heading to Hurley for a tour of the Hudson Valley Farm Hub. The tour included a visit to our thirty-acre vegetable garden where Farm Manager, John Gill, described sustainable growing methods and farming techniques being implemented at the Farm Hub this season. The afternoon concluded with a stop at our newly opened Farm Stand on Route 209.
Commissioner Ball is a long time New York farmer with an impressive record of service in agriculture at the local, state, and national levels. He was nominated by Governor Cuomo early this year to lead the Department of Agriculture and Markets, and his appointment was confirmed in May. Senator Tzaczyk represents New York’s 46th District in the State Senate. She was born and raised on a dairy farm and currently owns a small sheep farm in Duanesville, New York. She serves on the State’s Committee for Agriculture.
